A new feature in ICONIC LIFE spotlights one of the standout residences at Riviera Lake Havasu, where desert contemporary architecture meets the waterfront.
Architect C.P. Drewett of Drewett Works designed the two-story, four-bedroom, three-bath home for builder Scott Ward of Mountain Desert Development, with interiors by Claire Ownby of Ownby Design. “It brought a desert, contemporary look to Lake Havasu that really hadn’t ever been done before,” Ward told the magazine.
The lot is only 55 feet wide, and the design makes every foot of it count. An elevated pool sits flush with a patio raised 12 to 14 feet above grade on a structural concrete foundation, so the view runs straight out over the marina, the lake and the mountains beyond. Walls of sliding glass open the main level to an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, and an oversized garage handles the RV, the boat and the jet skis.
Inside, a sandy, neutral palette of limestone and quartzite carries the exterior materials through the house, paired with custom furniture and performance fabrics chosen for wet swimsuits and Arizona sun. Story by Teresa Traverse; photography by Kevin Brost.
